About

The first annual Greenbrier Anime Fest took place in January 2011.  This year’s festival will take place on March 22, 2014 from 10am-4pm.  The festival is a joint program for the Chesapeake Public Library system.  This means that staff from each of the seven libraries in Chesapeake come together to make this event as amazing as possible for the citizens of Chesapeake and Hampton Roads.  This year we will have an AMV contest, a cosplay contest, vendors, panels, anime viewing, crafts for younger children and much more.  We also accept any anime/manga donations that you want to bring in.  It should be a fun day and we hope you’ll join us. For more information please contact festival coordinator Jessica Chatham at jchatham@infopeake.org.

    • It is a pretty decent size, but it gets pretty filled up with people during the con. Hva eyou ever been to any of the Chesapeake Public Libraries? If so, which one and I can give you a comparison^_^

  1. I’m confused…..here it says Shoboucon is Saturday 10-4, but when I looked at the library’s events calender, it said it was Friday and Saturday “all day”…..What’s the real story?

  2. Hi Mary- Sorry for the confusion. It is on Saturday from 10-4. We reserved the meeting room for set up on Friday and somehow it was published as an event. I took care of it!

    • Hello Person!!

Shobou Con is completely free! We have panels, crafts, contests and activities for the whole family. You might want to bring a little extra money for the vendors, but the event is free and open to the public.

    • A lot of people attended last year. I don’t have the numbers in front of me right now, but I heard it was well over 1200.
